Who Is Capt Gan?

Gan Teck Hooi

Having spent more than 20 years as a qualified accountant, Gan was vastly involved in the professional and commercial settings. Financial reporting, planning, change management, and resource management are his forte. Gan is often referred as "Capt", short for Captain AmeriGan, by those around him.

He has worked with many well-known partners as speaker, mentor, content and service provider including INTI University, UNIFI, BNI, SMECORP, Microsoft, AXA Affin, EcoWorld, UOB Bank Singapore, Malaysia Bar Council, AIESEC, Taylor's University, Curtin University Sarawak and JCI Malaysia.

Capt runs a blog and he has been sharing his view on LinkedIn on a daily basis.

Due to his engagement with his followers, he was voted to be Marketing in Asia Top 70 Rising Personalities on LinkedIn Malaysia 2020.

Business Judge

Capt is a regular judge in startup competitions hosted by Universities, Incubators or Corporate Organizations.

His most recent judging involved the Advisory Board Member for Talentbank's "Employers' Top Choice Award 2021" and JCI's Creative Young Entrepreneur Award 2021.

Workshops

Capt often conducts workshops with a focus on Business & Finance.

His signature workshop "Finance 360" and "Finance 720" has helped hundreds of SME business owners since 2018.

PONEY C.O.O.

2011

Capt joined the PONEY Group as Chief Operating Officer in 2011 and subsequently introduced TransformaXion 2.0 plan with the crafting of a 5 year blueprint for PONEY.

Following that, PONEY was successfully brought into KidZania and a Licensing & International Franchise business allowed Poney to expand into 11 countries.

ICFO Founder

2014

In 2014, Capt started ICFO, a consulting firm to help restructure and remodel SME Businesses.

When pushing for a more robust solution for SMEs, Capt introduced iCOMMUNITY in 2016 — a business coaching platform that helps SME Business Owners to resolve their business issues.

S.M.E.A.S. Creator

2016

"SME Accelerator Series" was initiated by Capt in 2016 as the annual conference that gathers industries solutions to support the learning and provide inspirations to SME Business Owners.

The conference is conducted with the support of many renowned partners such as Unifi, Microsoft, Malaysia SME Media Group, INTI Education Group, Common Ground, BNI Malaysia, Kakitangan.com, LaPasar and many more.

SMEAS has subsequently introduced Leadership Series and Women Entrepreneurship Series in year 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Royale Demure Co-Founder

2017

Capt co-founded Royale Demure ("RD") in 2017, a fashion platform supporting aspiring designers to produce and market their fashion products.

With the support of Royal Prince of Selangor, RD organized the "Selangor Modest Fashion" in 2019 to showcase and promote Selangor fashion designers to the world.

K.T.J. Co-Founder

2019

In 2019, Capt co-founded Komuniti Tukang Jahit ("KTJ"). Accredited by the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC), KTJ is a Social Enterprise that provides upskilling through sewing training and job opportunities.

The beneficiaries are primarily home-makers, who are given the chance to secure a stable income while being fully committed to household responsibilities.

As of 2020, KTJ has upskilled more than hundreds of B40 women and generated more than hundreds of thousands of Ringgit income to these families.

Solarvest Independent Director

2020

Capt was appointed in 2020 as an Independent Director on the Board of Solarvest Holdings Berhad,  a solar energy solution provider that listed on Bursa Malaysia.

He is now entrusted with the position of the Audit Committee Chairman as well as the Chairman of Risk Management Committee and Nomination Committee.

I Am Passionate About Youth Education

Passionate about educating the youth, Capt is actively involved in Universities' employer project & mentorship programs. Since 2012, He has mentored more than 250 students and countless other students has benefitted him his guidance and teachings.

Capt also separately runs Apprenticeship and Internship programs which help students gain practical experience before they graduate. A private FB group "Entrepreneurs of Tomorrow" was created to compliment the program. The group includes students, industry practitioners and business owners such that good entrepreneurial content is posted in the group.

I am A Fitness Addict

Capt is a hardcore CrossFit-junkie. He started his CrossFit journey at the age of 41.

Though he had started his fitness journey in his late middle-age, his determination and 6 days of weekly training have made him competitive.

His best competition experience is in Master League Asia 2019, where he competed alongside Frank Tobin, 2017 & 2018 Australia CrossFit Champion (Master Category).

Besides Crossfit, Capt has been active in Spartan races, and became Trifecta qualifier 3 years in the roll since 2017.

10,000 Double Under Skipping Challenge

To promote his teachings, Capt created challenge in September 2020 — 10,000 Double Under Skipping in 30 Days — and Capt is one of, if not, the first person to have completed such a feat.

The challenge was to bring out the importance of Skills, Knowledge, Determination & Discipline ("SKDD").
